The indicator of the economic sense of confidence, increased by 1.4 points in January, both in the Twenty-seven as in the euro area, to 90.6, and 89.2 points, respectively, while the enterprise level in the euro area remained unchanged.
As the EC in both areas increased confidence during the first month of the year responded to a better perception in the service sector, construction and among consumers, and in the case of the Twenty also in retail.
The industrial sector had a negative performance in the whole Union, while in the euro area remained stable, just as did retail.
Among the seven largest EU members, increases were recorded in Germany (2.5), Netherlands (1.0), Spain (0.5) and the UK (0.4), while in Italy there were no alterations and decreased in France (-0.3) and Poland (-1.3).
In the EU, industrial confidence in January showed a slight decline (-0.5) and the euro area remained broadly stable, with a brief increase of 0.3 points, attributable mainly to the negative analysis of orders and exports.
