The Earth is known as the blue planet. About 70% of its surface is covered with water and oceans contain about 96% of this fluid essential for life. Water is alsodistributed through the atmosphere, rivers and lakes, ice caps and glaciers, soil moisture and even living … At first glance it seems a huge amount, but really not as much as we imagine if you look at this revealing picture made for the U.S.Geological Survey (USGS). The composition shows the size of an areacompared to the Earth. Well, this area contains all the water that exists on our planet. The bubble diameter is 1,385 kilometers, less than the distance between Madrid and Brussels (though of course we must take into account that the sphere has three dimensions) and less than a third the size of the moon.
