Briton Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) set the fastest time (1:23.282) in the rugged, rainy morning session, which has experienced the fourth day of testing at the Circuit de Catalunya, Montmelo. Hamilton, who used intermediate tires to achieve the clock, was quickest in the morning chaos that took place in Barcelona layout, with five red flags and a mild intermittent rain that conditioned the configuration of the cars. Many of the pilots chose to fit wet tires to mark the best of times, which of course were quite different from those of the three preceding days, in which the cars fell from 1:22 pointers.
