Eating bread on a diet does not interfere with weight loss and also facilitates compliance and reduces the risk of neglect, according to a study by researchers at the Unit of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Hospital La Paz in Madrid.

This research, published in Clinical Nutrition, analyzed voluntary 12th participated in the study and were randomly divided into two groups. Each followed two balanced hypocaloric diets of 1500 kcal, but had no bread and else. Treatment also included guidelines for exercise and various nutrition education sessions. After 16 weeks of follow-up was improved nutritional status of the participants, no significant differences in the evolution of anthropometric markers, biochemical or inflammatory in both groups.

Significantly reduced body weight, body fat percentage, waist circumference and visceral fat. When comparing the results, the researchers found no differences in the evolution of body weight loss, which averages for both groups was 4 kilos. They also noted several benefits derived from the consumption of bread, such as improving the nutritional and caloric profile and increased satiety after meals.
